How to Use AutoClipr: The Complete Beginner's Guide

A full walkthrough of AutoClipr — connecting YouTube and other platforms, using your 100 free starter credits, and getting the most out of the free tools before you clip your first video.

AutoClipr turns long videos into short, platform-ready clips using AI — no editing software, no manual cropping, no typing captions by hand. This guide walks through the entire setup: creating an account, connecting your channels and posting platforms, spending your free starter credits, and using the free tools that don't cost anything at all.

If you're new to AutoClipr, start here before jumping into any of our platform-specific strategy guides.

Step 1: Create your account and claim 100 free credits

Sign up at autoclipr.com/register with your email or Google account. No credit card is required to get started.

Every new signup receives 100 credits automatically on the free Starter plan. Credits are spent per clip generated, so 100 credits is enough to test the full pipeline — import, AI analysis, captions, and export — across multiple videos before deciding whether to upgrade.

Once you're signed in, you'll land on the dashboard, your command center for channels, clips, platforms, and analytics.

Step 2: Connect a YouTube channel to clip from

Go to Channels in the left sidebar (or Settings → Channel Setup). This is where you tell AutoClipr which YouTube channels you want to pull source videos from — separate from where clips get posted.

Type a channel name or handle (e.g. AdamLZ or @AdamLZ) into the search box and click Connect Channel. AutoClipr resolves the channel automatically and saves it as a clip source.

You can connect multiple channels this way — your own, a client's, or any public channel you have rights to repurpose.

Step 3: Connect posting platforms (YouTube, Instagram, and more)

Connecting a channel to clip from is different from connecting a platform to post to — that happens under Settings → Platforms (or the Platforms tab on your dashboard).

For YouTube Shorts: click Connect on the YouTube card. You'll be redirected to Google's OAuth screen to authorize AutoClipr to upload on your behalf. This is a one-time authorization.

For Instagram Reels: click Connect on the Instagram card. Your Instagram account must be a Professional account (Business or Creator) — if it isn't, Instagram will prompt you to switch during the connection flow. Complete the OAuth login and grant permission.

Facebook and TikTok posting are rolling out — cards for these platforms show their current availability on the same screen.

Once a platform shows a green 'Connected' badge, you can post any completed clip to it directly from the Clips page.

Step 4: Generate your first clips

Go to Viral Shorts (or click Create Viral Shorts from the dashboard). Paste a video URL — YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, Google Drive, or a direct MP4 link — or upload a file directly.

Choose your clip count (5, 10, 15, or 20), pick which durations to generate (15s, 30s, 45s, 60s), and select a caption style: Viral (bold, word-by-word), Animated, Emoji Captions, or Karaoke.

Each clip costs credits based on your plan's per-clip rate — the exact cost is shown next to each clip-count option before you commit, and your remaining balance is shown live so there are no surprises.

Click Create Viral Shorts. AutoClipr downloads the source, transcribes it with Whisper, uses AI to find the strongest hooks, trims segments, burns in captions, and exports vertical clips — typically within a couple of minutes per video.

Step 5: Review, post, and download your clips

Once processing finishes, your clips appear on the Clips page with a viral score (an AI-predicted engagement rating) attached to each one. Clips are sorted by score by default, so your strongest options surface first.

Click Post on any completed clip to publish it to a connected platform — the clip is uploaded automatically, and its status updates from Pending to Posted with a link to the live post once it's confirmed.

Prefer to post manually? Click Download to save the MP4 locally and upload it yourself through Instagram, TikTok, or wherever you like.

Use Select all with the Download selected or Delete selected buttons to manage clips in bulk once you're generating in volume.

Step 6: Track performance in Analytics

The Analytics page shows posted clips, connected platforms, and live view/like/comment counts pulled directly from YouTube and Instagram.

Click Refresh stats to pull the latest numbers. Use this to spot which clips and caption styles are performing best, then apply that pattern to your next batch.

Bonus: free tools that don't cost credits

AutoClipr also ships a set of standalone free tools under Free Tools in the navbar — useful even if you're not ready to run the full AI pipeline yet.

Video Editing: Video Slicer (cut 15s/30s/45s/60s segments in bulk), Aspect Ratio Converter (16:9 → 9:16 or 1:1 for Shorts and Reels), Video Compressor (shrink file size without losing quality), and GIF Generator (turn any segment into a GIF).

Convert & Extract: Format Converter (MP4 ↔ MOV, MP4 → WebM), Audio Extractor (pull MP3 or WAV from any video), and Thumbnail Extractor (grab a PNG frame at any timestamp).

Captions & Info: Caption Generator (free auto-transcripts), Caption Templates (simple white caption styles), and Video Metadata Viewer (check duration, FPS, codec, and bitrate instantly).

These tools run entirely free with no signup required for most of them — a good way to handle quick one-off tasks without touching your credit balance.
